The Seals are back in town!

We were so thrilled to see this tiny dot in the middle of the photo, taken at Cwmtydu this afternoon.

It is a positive sign that our Atlantic Grey Seals are returning to pup on the beach later this summer.

Following the absolute devastation caused by Storm Ophelia and the other awful storms last Autumn, we were afraid that the seals would not return. Sadly, many of the pups that were born on our local beaches did not survive the turmoil that the storms brought; although we were not as badly hit as were Ramsey Island and Skomer, where the majority of the pups born last Autumn were killed.

But seeing two females scoping out the beach today (there were three earlier!) means there is hope that we shall again see the amazing sight of seal pups being brought into the world, fed and cared for by their mothers, just two miles from The Cwtch. Once again, I will be taking part in the Seal Watch on the beach, handing out information to the many people who flock to see this amazing sight, and protecting the mothers and pups from walkers or dogs who may stray on to the beach unknowingly, or who wish to see the seals a little too closely!

So, if you are staying with us from late August to the beginning of October, you may be lucky enough to see this amazing sight for yourself first hand. Have a look at the Seal Blog from 2017 to

read more about last year's watch and see some amazing photos.
